March in Gamecan

Apr 20, 2023

March was a busy month for Gamecan, filled with exciting events and updates. In case you missed anything, here's a recap of what we've been up to.

Full Cycle Game Academy admissions are open!

This year, the Full Cycle Game Academy will open five different curriculums and the admissions will be open from the 12th of March until the 31st of May. Since the start, the interest to enter the Academy has come from different parts of the world, from Ethiopia to South Corea. It’s possible to choose curriculums between game development, game design, game art, sound and audio, project management and production. The students will have the skills to join a junior position straight after graduating. Check out the video!

Pro Course Demo Day

At the beginning of March, our current Full Cycle Game Academy students had their second Demo Day, where they showcased the game projects they had been working on. We’re excited to see where these students go next. Check out the whole Demo Day yourself here.

Gamecan at StartupDay Fest in Tartu

Our team attended the StartupDay fest in Tartu which brought together entrepreneurs, investors, and industry experts from across Estonia to share their knowledge and experiences. We had the opportunity to meet with other game developers, network with potential partners, and learn about the latest trends and technologies in the industry.

Pärnu County Chamber of Companies

Gamecan was invited to attend an open council of the Pärnu County Chamber of Companies where we spoke with other business leaders in the region. The Pärnu County Chamber of Companies invited all members, new businesses, and related community members to Forwardspace, a coworking center in Pärnu Keskus to discuss different areas in the context of Pärnumaa. A group of people from various professions and backgrounds gathered together, including the Mayor of Pärnu, Romek Kosenkranius. Maret, our Head of Education and Marketing, and Marten, our CEO shared our experiences as a game development company, discussed the challenges and opportunities in the industry, and introduced Full Cycle Game Academy’s ambitious future plans.

GameDev Meetup #6

GameDev March Meetup brought together like-minded individuals who share the same passion for video game development. The event was a great success, with plenty of networking happening throughout the evening. Andrejs, CEO of GameDev Estonia, went through the latest news and showcased plans for this spring, and guest speaker Kristjan Thomas Haaristo, led a fascinating discussion on the process of creating a soundtrack for a film or video game. Everyone got appetizing snacks and free drinks from the bar thanks to the event sponsors Mobidictum and Gamecan.

Work expo at Pärnumaa Vocational Education Centre

At the end of March, our team went to the Work expo at Pärnumaa Vocational Education Centre and introduced our 9-month program at Full Cycle Game Academy to become a game industry specialist. If you’re passionate about games and want to turn your hobby into a career, our academy might be just what you’re looking for. We are also very thankful that Gamecan has been recognized as a good internship company by the Pärnumaa Vocational Education Centre.

Last but not least, we want to wish a happy birthday to our CEO, Marten Palu! Marten has been an incredible leader for Gamecan, and we’re grateful for all that he does for our team and the industry.

At our company, wellness comes first!

We’re constantly trying to create better opportunities for our team to prioritize their health and well-being. One of the ways we’re doing this is by providing daily massages to our team members. This is our new massage corner.
